| TV Antenna at 1939 World's Fair on this tower. |
In 1939, this tower was constructed for RCA at the 1939 World's Fair to demonstrate the infant Television. At the
conclusion of the World's Fair, the tower was dismantled and placed in storage at the VOA facility at Bound Brook NJ.
In 1949 it was taken to Chicago and put into service as an auxiliary antenna for NBC's 50 kW AM station, WMAQ, where it is
still in service. This award winning photo was taken by Bill Newbrough in the early 1970s.
